Tieks Comarison: Size 8 vs. 9

Hey Guys!

So I thought it would be helpful to breakdown my opinion on Tieks if you are a half size like me!

My foot measures exactly 9.5 inches, which is equal to an 8 ½ in US sizing. I have very long narrow feet so not much give on the width wise it is just the length. (From the top of the blue tip to he back of the blue bottom) Size 8 measures 9 ½, and the 9 measure 10 inches long.

They have amazing customer service so I originally ordered a 9 thinking it would have a little more room. After thinking a little bit, I contacted them for a size 8 so I could try them out. So I had both a 9 and an 8 to try on at home and compare them.

This is what I realized:

The 8’s–

They fit me snug and were comfortable enough so I wore them around my house a bit. After a while I felt like my big toes felt like they hurt a little it’s more like an annoying feeling of being pushed. Also the back of my heel hurt a little I think from the elastic. Otherwise look wise they looked like they fit better. With the 8’s there wasn't any sagging in the toe.

The 9’s–

When I originally got these I immediately thought I need a smaller size, I think because I’m used to the fit of an 8 ½ and that's what I was ideally looking for. I could tell they looked a bit big and they looked saggy almost on my toes and I didn't like that. But they did feel really comfortable and I didn't have any pains in my heel or toes after wearing them around the house.

Size 9's

With these things considered I ended up deciding on the 9’s. Only because after wearing them for a while I would rather them be comfortable. I know that I will be more annoyed if they are just too tight, then being a little big on me. Right now they do not feel like my foot will come out of them probably because of the elastic. I do know that they stretch a bit but I don't think it will be substantial enough for the 8’s to give me that room that I am looking for. I know that the 9’s are bigger so they might not stretch as much I think that they will just mold to my feet more maybe around my toe area. Also with less stretching on the elastic maybe will keep shape longer (unsure just a thought). I was also taking into consideration that in the summer from walking in flip-flops and the heat my feet tend to swell so it might be more comfortable to have that wiggle room in my flats. Also somewhere along the lines I have heard it varies but with pregnancy your feet might grow, so leaving that as another maybe if I plan on keeping them a while. After walking around in both I felt like the 9’s just had a little more play in them, which would be nice if I’m bending or doing a lot of walking around the office especially. I feel like I am often running around my office and house so would rather the comfort. Keeping in mind in the measurement I think that the 8’s fit my foot perfectly but there is no give so I feel like my feet are cramped, the 9’s give me a half inch of play which is a lot but I think its just more comfortable.

Any one else that's a half size like me I would recommend getting both sizes and wear one size each foot walk around for a while and see how they feel. This is when I realized the toe pressure was annoying and I didn't feel that on the size 9’s, and I know that will annoy me. I’ve had shoes that I thought would be comfortable because they were just a “little” and the ended up annoying me half way into the workday. Which is where I plan on wearing these so I want to make sure those 8-9 hours or longer they are comfortable.

Hope all this info helps! I will update as the time goes on and I use them for a while (stretching and whatnot)!

One of each

This is one in each shoe for comparison. (Left foot is an 8 and Right foot is a 9)
